Double the Fun

The Eastern Shore Art Center is blessed with a team of wonderful volunteers but did you know that some of those volunteers are also member artists or teachers for ESAC?!

Mitzie Massey began painting in 2020 after retiring from a forty year teaching career. Through experimentation with different mediums Mitzie has honed a unique artistic voice that resonates with audiences both locally and beyond. Rooted in a love for visual storytelling, Mitzie has developed a distinctive style marked by vibrant colors, dynamic compositions and an expressive approach to subject matter. She is a volunteer, member artist and teacher at ESAC.

Thank you so much for your dedication to volunteering here at the Eastern Shore Art Center. I would like to open up this form for all First Friday volunteers to pick which dates work best for their schedules. Please note, there is a new section for Catering Volunteers now. Priscilla Royster, our First Friday caterer, is always looking for a few helping hands for replenishing and staging!

Eastern Shore Art Center Hosts First Friday Art Walk, October 2nd! Free admission. Donations welcomed. Live music inside provided by Trio Con Brio. RETURNING EXHIBIT: “SHELTER” Works by Will Jacks Jacks’ work is made from basic photographic materials – silver gelatin paper, developer, and fixer. Light and time are requirements for their making. Photography, by definition, means “writing with light”. It does not mean “framing with camera”. The technical terms for the prints are chemigrams and lumen prints, and they are made without the use of a camera. They are references to places and moments I have observed. “Yet, I acknowledge that they don’t look like photographs; at least what we’ve all come to accept as such. And, that, to me, is the point.” RETURNING EXHIBIT: Eastern Shore Camera Club / 16th Annual Photography Exhibit Providing members, from beginners to professionals, with educational and skill building opportunities in the art of photography. Membership in the Eastern Shore Camera Club is open to anyone with an interest in photography and all skill levels are welcome. RETURNING EXHIBIT: “Solid Fluidity” Works by Tyler Achee Growing up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast was just the beginning of Tyler’s love of unintentional beauty, and attention to things often unseen. After moving to Fairhope, Tyler’s mother, Jennifer, persuaded him to take a Beginning Handbuilding class at ESAC with her. He was instantly drawn to the ability to create something beautiful and functional from the earth. This is where his love of clay began. While he creates most of his work at his studio, he continues to take classes at ESAC. The opportunity to create and share his love of clay is what makes ceramics a way of life for him, not just art. RETURNING EXHIBIT: Members’ Sales Gallery Works by ESAC’s Artist Level Members and above. This gallery changes out every two months and features all sorts of art mediums, all for sale! All exhibits will be on display through October 30, 2026. BIDDING CLOSING! 6th Annual ArtSquared Auction and Exhibit 24 Invited Artists / 12″x12″ panels / All pieces open for bidding Sept 4 @ 6pm! Bidding closes Oct 2 @ 7pm. All proceeds to ESAC programming! https://event.gives/artsquared2026 ART MART IS BACK! Need Art Mart blurb added.
